Holt Executive has partnered with a global space robotics company who are seeking a motivated Business Development Executive to join their team and work closely with the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO).

As Business Development Executive you will be a key partner in driving the business forward, taking on a variety of responsibilities that include supporting top management and engaging directly in frontline activities.

As part of the Global Business Strategy group, you will play an essential role in shaping the overall business strategy and tackling cross-organisational challenges. Your primary focus will be on developing and refining the global strategy, including formulating company-wide vision and strategies that are central to the business success.

Key Responsibilities for the Business Development Executive:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of strategies within the CRO office.
  • Create and establish organisational structures, authority frameworks, meeting protocols, and operational guidelines.
  • Partner with the CTO and Product Manager to explore and develop new business opportunities.
  • Lead and coordinate initiatives that involve multiple regions (US, Luxembourg, Japan) and key executives, including the CEO, CTO, and CFO offices.
  • Prepare and maintain both internal and external documentation for customers and senior leadership.
  • Take charge of urgent, high-priority projects as they emerge.
  • Additionally, you may be responsible for managing your own accounts on key deals, major projects, and new business initiatives, guiding them from the planning and proposal stages through negotiations, contract finalisation, and execution.

 
Key Skills and Experience Required by the Business Development Executive:

  • A minimum of 5 years in business development, sales (including technical sales), or project management within the B2B technical services sector, focusing on commercial products, ideally with transaction values of 100 million yen or more. Alternatively, at least 5 years as a business consultant with a focus on customer strategy development, proposals, and execution.
  • Strong track record of working with cross-regional and cross-functional teams, including effective collaboration with engineers.
  • Foundational understanding of mathematics and physics at an introductory university level.
  • Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English.
  • Relevant experience in the space industry, especially in areas such as payloads, data, and telecommunications.
  • A master’s degree or higher in aerospace engineering is required.
  • Proven experience in securing, bidding for, and delivering projects to NASA or other government agencies.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, including structure, thermal, avionics, software, GN&C, propulsion, operations, AIT, and system engineering.
  • Basic understanding of public relations, legal concepts (particularly contract law), and accounting, including familiarity with financial statements.
  • A broad understanding across business, marketing, public relations, technology, legal, finance, and accounting. While not all skills are expected at the start, there is a strong expectation for rapid development in these areas.
  • Willingness to undertake occasional overseas business trips, typically lasting 1-2 weeks per trip, several times a year.
