We are seeking an experienced Hardware Engineering Manager to lead a talented electronics team developing advanced hardware solutions for next-generation communication and aerospace technologies.
This is a senior leadership role combining technical expertise, team development, and engineering delivery. You will be responsible for growing the capability of the hardware function while ensuring complex electronic products are designed, validated, and delivered to the highest standards.
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will collaborate closely with teams across RF, systems, software, and mechanical engineering to solve complex technical challenges and deliver reliable, high-performance hardware solutions.
The Role
As Hardware Engineering Manager, you will:
- Lead and develop a team of hardware engineers, providing technical direction, mentoring, and career support.
- Take ownership of hardware development activities from early concepts through design, verification, and production.
- Support engineering strategy, resource planning, and the continued growth of the hardware capability.
- Guide technical decisions around electronic architecture, design approaches, and product performance.
- Ensure hardware solutions meet demanding requirements around reliability, performance, environmental conditions, and manufacturability.
- Work with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners to ensure successful delivery of projects.
- Champion robust engineering processes, including design reviews, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Significant experience within hardware/electronics engineering, with previous responsibility for leading technical teams or projects.
- Strong technical background in analog and mixed-signal electronics design.
- Experience taking electronic products through the complete development lifecycle, from concept to manufacture.
- Familiarity with PCB design processes and tools such as Altium.
- Practical experience with hardware testing and validation using equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, and network analysers.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to make informed technical decisions and coordinate activity across multiple engineering disciplines.
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial:
- Space, aerospace, satellite communications, or other high-reliability technology environments.
- RF systems and complex electronic architectures.
- FPGA and embedded hardware development.
- EMI/EMC considerations and environmental qualification.
- High-speed digital electronics.
- Requirements management and structured engineering processes.
- Building, scaling, or improving hardware engineering teams.
