Primary role purpose:

This role of Logistics Manager will be a key part of the Global Government Engineering team, working closely with both solutions architects and pre-sales engineers within the team. The successful candidate is expected to manage all the logistics requirements for the engineering team including the shipping of engineering equipment to global locations.

The Logistics Manager to manage G2 engineering equipment store, ensuring all inventory is tracked accurately, while ensuring that defective items are sent out for maintenance or replaced accordingly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all shipments, imports, and exports for the Inmarsat Global government engineering team.
  • Work closely with pre-sales engineers and solutions architects to ensure required equipment is available for the planned Demos and trials.
  • Work closely with partners and customers to ensure timely delivery and return of engineering equipment for all relevant Government demos and trials.
  • Ensure that all export control procedures and licence requirements are followed for all items shipped around the world.
  • Ensure that all shipping related documents are produced accurately and in a timely manner, in order to avoid any delays to delivery times and minimise unnecessary duty payments through paperwork errors.
  • Work with freight companies to ensure that shipments are handled appropriately, to ensure all G2 equipment remains in operational condition.
  • Maintain a working relationship and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure proper logistics support is provided.
  • Manage the G2 engineering equipment store, including inventory management, equipment inspection in adherence to Inmarsat’s policies and best practices.
  • Coordinate the implementation of software tools to automate the inventory and asset management process.
  • Ensure G2 engineering equipment is maintained to the required operational standard, ordering repairs when required and requesting replacements if necessary.
  • Contribute to the improvement of Global Government’s export and shipping processes to drive time and cost efficiencies where possible.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience of imports, exports, door-to-door shipments, international shipping terms, dealing with overseas freight forwarders.
  • Good working knowledge and experience of UK, EU export controls.
  • Sound working knowledge and experience of export licence application.
  • Experience in asset and inventory management software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Good customer facing skills and excellent collaboration.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to produce quality reports.
  • Drive and enthusiasm and a willingness to take on additional responsibility.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team and to display flexibility, initiative, and co-operation.
  • Excellent IT skills (MS office, MS project).

Other requirements:

  • Must be committed to on-going personal development.
  • The post-holder must have and maintain a Current drivers’ license for the employed location.
  • Must have citizenship and a suitable background to qualify and maintain a government security clearance for the country of location.
  • Must comply with Health & Safety regulations as outlined in the Health & Safety at Work Employee Handbook and as dictated by local legislation
  • Commit to attending all mandatory Health & Safety training and ensure you are clear on Health & Safety standards at all times.  Training will be appropriate to the tasks you carry out but will include: working at heights, risk assessment, electromagnetic radiation safety, electrical safety awareness and manual handling.
  • Promptly report any work-related incidents, following the corporate procedure.
  • Be aware environmental impact of the role and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
