Senior Manager, Product Development – Satellite Communications
We are pleased to be supporting a key Product Management leadership hire for a global technology organisation in the satellite communications sector.
With an advanced product portfolio spanning commercial and government markets, our client is seeking an experienced Manager of Product Management to lead the Americas Product Management team and own the full lifecycle of a growing Government product line.
This role will focus on defining product strategy, leading technical product development activities, managing system integration, and testing, and collaborating closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and regulatory teams. The successful candidate will also serve as the technical owner for the Government product portfolio, shaping product vision and ensuring technical excellence across programs.
Key Responsibilities for the Manager of Product Management:
- Define and drive the product strategy and roadmap for the Government product line.
- Serve as the technical lead for all government-related programs.
- Oversee product planning, ideation, requirements development, and system-level design.
- Lead beta programs, pilot testing, and early-stage product evaluations.
- Act as SME for Government products throughout the product lifecycle.
- Implement the vision, strategy, and roadmap defined by regional leadership.
- Support regulatory qualification test activities and ensure compliance requirements are met.
- Assess competitor technologies and market trends, providing insights to global product teams.
- Lead the Americas Product Management team in executing market research, competitive analysis, roadmap planning, requirements development, and product launches.
- Drive the team to act as customer advocates, translating market needs into clear PRDs and system-level requirements.
- Oversee product development with global teams, ensuring compliance with defined requirements.
- Write white papers, responses to RFIs/RFPs, and technical documents for new government programs.
Key Experience Needed for the Manager of Product Management:
- 5+ years of Product Management experience in satellite communications or a related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience designing or testing RF communication systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of satellite communications and RF technologies.
- Demonstrated success launching Satcom or MilSatCom products.
- Experience managing engineering or technical teams.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including customer-facing presentations.
- Ability to travel up to 40%.
