This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and integration of embedded software for an advanced flight computer, working with cutting-edge Xilinx MPSoC technology.
About the Role: As a Principal Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and integration of embedded flight software for a missile electronic control unit (ECU). You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop real-time embedded applications, ensuring robust, reliable, and high-performance software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement real-time embedded software for a missile electronic control unit (ECU) interfacing with sensors, propulsion, and actuation systems.
- Develop guidance and flight control algorithms to meet flight test objectives.
- Work within a hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) laboratory environment to test and refine embedded systems.
- Define software requirements, architecture, and test plans to ensure system reliability.
- Collaborate with electrical and software engineering teams on system integration and optimization.
- Implement disciplined coding standards to enhance software maintainability and performance.
- Document and present technical results and progress updates to leadership and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 15+ years of experience in embedded software development for real-time flight applications.
- Leadership experience across all software engineering phases, from requirements development to integration and testing.
- Expertise in bare-metal embedded programming on multi-core MPSoC processors with integrated FPGA architectures.
- Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded applications.
- Experience working in an Agile Scrum development environment, using tools such as Jira.
- Strong understanding of real-time multi-threaded software design for safety-critical applications.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with C#, Java, Python, or MATLAB.
- Knowledge of FPGA development and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Experience with Xilinx MPSoC architecture.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to evolving design requirements.
