An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced spacecraft platform specialist to lead the development and qualification of next-generation LEO satellite platforms within a large-scale constellation programme.
This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for end-to-end ownership of the satellite platform, covering spacecraft bus architecture, attitude control, propulsion, onboard computing, flight software, optical inter-satellite links, electrical power systems, and manufacturing tooling.
The successful candidate will act as the platform-level technical authority, driving subsystem architecture decisions, supplier selection, qualification activities, and post-launch anomaly resolution across a highly complex, multi-vendor programme environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead spacecraft platform development across structural bus, ACS, propulsion, OBC, flight software, optical ISL, and EPS subsystems
- Manage RFQ activities, supplier evaluation, and subsystem procurement across international vendors
- Define spacecraft architecture decisions relating to radiation tolerance, shielding, and onboard computing strategies
- Establish propulsion budgets and disposal strategies aligned with space sustainability guidelines
- Define platform pointing performance requirements for Ka/S-band communications and ISL acquisition
- Oversee procurement of manufacturing tooling and production support equipment
- Chair platform qualification reviews and support anomaly investigation and resolution activities post-launch
- Coordinate closely with payload, operations, systems, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful platform integration and delivery
Essential Skills & Experience
- 15+ years’ experience in spacecraft platform engineering or satellite systems development
- Strong subsystem-level ownership experience across multiple spacecraft bus architectures
- Proven experience integrating multi-vendor subsystem deliveries into a complete spacecraft platform
- Strong understanding of LEO radiation environments and spacecraft shielding strategies
- Experience managing international suppliers and fixed-price technical contracts
- Strong systems engineering, risk management, and technical leadership capability
- Postgraduate qualification in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting large-scale LEO constellation programmes
- Knowledge of optical inter-satellite link technologies
- Familiarity with regenerative payload integration and advanced onboard processing architectures
- Experience supporting spacecraft manufacturing, qualification, and launch campaigns
- Background in space sustainability, active disposal, or orbital debris mitigation strategies
What’s on Offer
- Opportunity to lead platform engineering for a cutting-edge satellite constellation programme
- High-impact technical leadership role within an innovative space environment
- Flexible and remote working arrangements
- Long-term programme involvement spanning development through launch and operations
- Collaborative international engineering environment working on advanced spacecraft technologies
