Holt Executive are partnered with an innovative and industry leading defence contractor providing bespoke solutions to land, sea and air. They are looking to expand their team with a Senior Electrical Electronics Engineer – Defence.

As Senior Electrical Electronics Engineer you will hold a pivotal role within projects and be responsible for reviewing, analysing processes and practices within the department.

This role, within the engineering team, will be a dual Electrical/Electronic function and the successful Senior Electrical Electronics Engineer will help lead and proactively develop electronics within the business. The Electrical and Electronic functions are defined as:

  • Electronics Engineer will provide expertise of circuit design, components, and PCB technology and work in technology areas of EMC, Power Management, Servo Control, processor interfacing and communications.
  •  Electrical Engineer will provide expertise in the realms of power and signal transmission over wired medium with ability to define and objectively review an overall architecture, including power management, system wiring and knowledge of production processes.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Electrical Electronics Engineer:

  • Take a lead role in developing or enhancing technology within the business, providing subject matter expertise for technology areas and apply these to R&D development activities or projects.
  • Provide technical leadership of multi-disciplined projects, with ability to foster a culture a systematic approach while providing our customers with solutions.
  • Provide line management support to other engineers as part of a smaller sub team overseeing development, training and support needs while providing key insights into resource planning of engineers working under them.

 
Key requirements of the Senior Electrical Electronics Engineer:

  • Strong degree in a related discipline accredited by the IET. Typically, 6 years relevant experience expected. Accreditation as a Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership would be an advantage.
  • Proven experience of leading and/or supervising projects or people for routine and non-routine work.
  • Solid all-round theoretical and practical understanding of electrical and electronics designs
  • Ability to complete analysis-based activities i.e. (circuit emulation, performance, or power budgets) and assess and highlight key project risks, schedules, mitigations and identify critical design activities.
  • Overall awareness of the full project lifecycle ranging from opportunity/bid development through to continuing customer support.
  • A proven track record of innovation-based approaches to all aspects of engineering/leadership.
  • Ability to investigate and fault find technical problems at PCB or system level, with capability to identify root cause or procedural reforms.

Due to the nature of this business, you will need to be able to obtain UK Security Clearance as a mandated requirement. Therefore, if successful, you will need to provide proof of identity, employment history and right to work in the UK, along with proof of UK residency for at least five years.
