An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Satellite Telemetry (TT&C) to take ownership of the telemetry, tracking and command (TT&C) architecture for a next-generation Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation.

This is a senior technical leadership position responsible for defining the TT&C subsystem strategy across both the space and ground segments. You will lead the selection and integration of TT&C technologies, oversee the development of the ground network, and establish the operational processes used to monitor spacecraft health and support mission operations.

Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, availability and long-term operational success of a cutting-edge satellite programme.

Key Responsibilities

As the technical authority for TT&C systems, you will:

  • Lead the selection, evaluation and technical management of the satellite TT&C subsystem vendor.
  • Design and deploy the S-band TT&C ground station network to support constellation operations.
  • Assess the use of shared ground infrastructure versus dedicated network deployments to optimise operational performance and cost.
  • Define the tools, processes and performance metrics used for on-orbit spacecraft monitoring.
  • Develop telemetry analytics, health monitoring and trend analysis capabilities across the operational fleet.
  • Lead anomaly detection, investigation and reporting activities, working closely with the Satellite Operations Centre.
  • Support system integration, operational readiness and long-term fleet performance.
  • Collaborate with spacecraft, RF, ground segment and mission operations teams to ensure seamless end-to-end system performance.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience in satellite TT&C engineering with ownership of spacecraft command and telemetry systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of CCSDS standards and S-band telemetry, tracking and command link design.
  • Experience designing and deploying TT&C ground networks supporting multiple spacecraft.
  • Proven experience working with spacecraft operations, telemetry analysis and anomaly resolution.
  • Strong understanding of spacecraft health monitoring, command systems and mission operations.
  • Experience managing technical suppliers and subsystem integration activities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Postgraduate qualification in RF Engineering, Communications Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting LEO or MEO satellite constellations.
  • Knowledge of satellite operations centres and fleet management processes.
  • Experience with spacecraft commissioning and on-orbit operations.
  • Familiarity with satellite ground infrastructure procurement and deployment.
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial or government satellite programmes.

Why Apply?

This is a unique opportunity to lead the design and implementation of a critical spacecraft subsystem within a next-generation satellite constellation. You’ll work alongside an experienced international engineering team, influencing key architectural decisions from programme inception through to on-orbit operations, while helping shape the future of global satellite communications.
