We are currently recruiting for an IT & Engineering Specialist to support day-to-day IT operations within a technical engineering environment.
This is a hands-on role combining IT support, network administration and engineering systems support, with responsibility for maintaining Windows-based infrastructure, site networking, hardware, software licensing and engineering test environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of PCs, laptops, printers and other IT hardware, including procurement, deployment and disposal.
- Provide first-line IT support, managing tickets, troubleshooting issues and maintaining technical documentation.
- Manage user access, shared drives, permissions and data storage.
- Maintain onsite video conferencing, Wi-Fi and LAN infrastructure.
- Manage software licensing and license servers supporting engineering and design applications.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Cisco-based networks, including routing, switching, VLANs, VPN and wireless connectivity.
- Support network security and coordinate maintenance activities.
- Support engineering test environments and associated network infrastructure.
- Implement and support remote testing procedures and communication interfaces.
- Provide support for additional sites and travel when required.
- Support employee IT onboarding and equipment setup.
- Maintain both Windows and Linux systems.
- Coordinate hardware procurement, shipping and deployment across multiple locations.
- Work closely with wider technical teams to ensure reliable IT and engineering infrastructure.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- 2–3 years’ experience in technical IT or helpdesk support.
- Practical networking experience; Cisco experience is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Office applications.
- Familiarity with Linux environments.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Desirable Experience
- Cisco networking certifications such as CCNA or CCNP.
- Experience with collaboration, documentation or ticketing platforms.
- Experience supporting engineering or CAD software environments.
- Familiarity with virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Docker or VirtualBox.
- Experience with Git or similar development tools.
- Understanding of engineering test environments and technical infrastructure.
