An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced engineering leader to take ownership of system integration, verification, and validation activities for a next-generation satellite communications network.
This role will lead the end-to-end testing and validation of communications capabilities across both space and ground infrastructure, ensuring performance, reliability, and operational readiness prior to service deployment. Working at the intersection of systems engineering, RF communications, networking, and satellite operations, you will manage a team of verification and validation engineers while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering groups and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the integration, verification, and validation strategy for the communications segment across multiple programme releases.
- Lead end-to-end testing activities spanning spacecraft, ground infrastructure, network control systems, and operational environments.
- Define and maintain verification plans, test procedures, acceptance criteria, and validation frameworks, ensuring full traceability to system requirements.
- Plan and execute laboratory, simulation, and integrated system testing to validate functionality, performance, and operational readiness.
- Lead readiness reviews and support key programme milestones, including system and operational readiness activities.
- Review and approve supplier test plans, reports, and release documentation, while driving issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing verification and validation team, providing technical mentorship and supporting recruitment and capability development.
- Manage priorities, resources, and workloads to ensure delivery against programme schedules and objectives.
- Act as the primary interface for verification and validation activities, collaborating closely with systems, RF, payload, network, operations, programme, and supplier teams.
- Participate in technical and design reviews to ensure adequate testability and verification coverage throughout the development lifecycle.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, issues, and results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Produce clear, auditable verification evidence to support certification, compliance, and programme readiness decisions.
- Ensure all verification and validation activities comply with organisational processes, quality standards, and governance requirements.
Essential Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
- 8–12+ years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a technical leadership or management role.
- Proven experience delivering system-level integration and verification for complex, multi-domain systems.
- Strong understanding of satellite communications systems and ground-to-space communications architectures.
- Experience testing large-scale telecommunications, aerospace, or mission-critical systems.
- Knowledge of system performance, reliability, availability, and operational behaviour.
- Familiarity with laboratory environments, simulation platforms, and test infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with external suppliers and engineering partners.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting satellite constellations or large-scale communications networks.
- Knowledge of RF systems, payload verification, or network performance testing.
- Experience supporting operational readiness, commissioning, early operations, or in-service validation activities.
What’s on Offer
- Opportunity to play a key role in the development of a next-generation satellite communications system.
- Leadership responsibility within a highly technical and collaborative engineering environment.
- Exposure to complex space, communications, networking, and systems engineering challenges.
- Long-term career growth within a major international programme.
