Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer to join a pioneering space organisation working on advanced orbital missions and next-generation space technologies.
In this role, you will play a key part in trajectory planning, optimisation, and mission analysis, developing innovative solutions that provide clear insight into spacecraft behaviour and interactions within complex orbital environments. You’ll work across a wide range of mission scenarios, including rendezvous, proximity operations, docking, and separation, contributing throughout the full mission lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and review flight dynamics requirements for complex space missions
- Contribute to the architecture and development of flight dynamics systems and tools
- Develop and maintain mathematically intensive software modules
- Lead activities related to space traffic management, including conjunction analysis and collision avoidance
- Plan, execute, and assess orbital and attitude manoeuvres
- Support ground segment design and operational concepts
- Work closely with GNC, operations, and wider engineering teams
- Support spacecraft operations, including real-time and critical mission phases
- Develop and maintain operational procedures (nominal and contingency)
- Investigate anomalies and contribute to root cause analysis and resolution
- Participate in on-call rotations and mission-critical support activities when required
Key Requirements
- Degree in Aerospace, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or similar
- 5+ years’ experience in flight dynamics within the space industry
- Strong knowledge of orbital mechanics and mission analysis
- Experience with simulation tools (e.g. MATLAB or equivalent)
- Experience defining mission requirements and performing system analysis
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and within teams
Desirable Experience
- Experience in flight dynamics operations and/or agile environments
- Programming experience (e.g. Python, C++, scripting, Linux)
- Exposure to Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC)
- Understanding of flight dynamics system architecture
- Eligibility for security clearance is advantageous

We are seeking a talented and motivated Flight Dynamics Engineer to join a growing engineering team developing advanced flight dynamics capabilities for defence and space applications. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and evolution of sophisticated software products supporting space domain awareness, mission analysis, and space operations.
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will help develop innovative flight dynamics solutions, influence product direction, and collaborate with technical specialists to deliver high-quality software and services that meet evolving customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, validate and maintain flight dynamics software for defence and space applications.
- Support business development activities by providing technical expertise during bids and customer engagements.
- Develop and specify flight dynamics algorithms to support operational software capabilities.
- Review flight dynamics designs, procedures and technical documentation.
- Capture, analyse and refine customer and system requirements, translating them into user stories and technical specifications.
- Help prioritise and define features for future software releases.
- Support system verification, validation, integration and simulation activities.
- Provide technical support to operations teams, troubleshooting issues and recommending best practice.
- Act as the technical interface with external suppliers and development partners where required.
- Work within an Agile (Scrum) environment to deliver software to agreed schedules.
- Produce and maintain high-quality engineering documentation, including requirements, verification plans, test procedures and technical reports.
Essential Experience
- Master’s degree in Astronautics, Aerospace Engineering, Physics or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- At least five years’ commercial experience in flight dynamics within the space or defence sectors.
- Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC) or higher.
- Strong understanding of orbital mechanics and spacecraft flight dynamics.
- Experience with mission analysis and trajectory design.
- Experience using MATLAB or equivalent simulation tools.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Experience defining and managing technical requirements.
- Understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, integration, testing and maintenance.
- Experience working alongside spacecraft operations or mission operations teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of ECSS standards.
- Commercial software engineering experience.
- Experience with commercial flight dynamics software tools.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications.

Senior Director – LEO Satellite Operations Location: Canada (Hybrid – relocation support available)
Holt Executive are pleased to be partnered with a leading global satellite communications organisation supporting a critical senior leadership hire within LEO satellite operations.
This role will take overall responsibility for the development, deployment and long-term operation of a next-generation LEO satellite constellation. The successful candidate will lead the definition of operational concepts, oversee SOC system development, and build and mentor a high-performing satellite operations team through all mission phases — from launch and orbit raising to in-service operations and end-of-life disposal.
Key Responsibilities – Senior Director, LEO Satellite Operations
- Lead the definition and delivery of the Satellite Operations Concept for a LEO constellation
- Oversee SOC system requirements including command & telemetry, flight dynamics, SSA, automation and analytics
- Manage supplier selection and make/buy decisions aligned to schedule, budget and risk
- Collaborate closely with satellite manufacturers to support operations readiness and procedures
- Lead development, validation and deployment of SOC systems and processes
- Build, structure and mentor a new Satellite Operations organisation
- Define operational schedules, identify risks and drive mitigation strategies
- Oversee on-orbit operations across LEOP, orbit raising, validation and steady-state service

Key Experience Required – Senior Director, LEO Satellite Operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or Mathematics
- 20+ years’ experience in spacecraft operations systems and on-orbit operations
- Proven leadership experience within MEO or LEO satellite constellation operations
- Strong expertise in satellite control systems, flight dynamics and space situational awareness
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead large, multidisciplinary technical teams
- Strong stakeholder management, decision-making and communication skills
- Ability to work in Canada and obtain Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) clearance
