Holt Executive are partnered with a leading Global Satellite Operator that provides reliable and secure satellite-delivered voice and high-speed data communications solutions to broadcast, telecommunications, corporate and government customers worldwide. Their Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network will revolutionize global broadband connectivity.
Our partner is seeking a LEO Operations Research Specialist to play a vital role in collaboration with the System Modelling and Engineering teams to achieve a high level of efficiency in constellation operations.
The successful LEO Operations Research Specialist will use their expertise to formulate, implement and solve complex and challenging optimization problems within the constellation System Model.
Key Responsibilities for the LEO Operations Research Specialist:
- Apply your optimization expertise and knowledge to formulate optimization problems and deploy them in the constellation System Model, using proper solver parameters, to achieve large improvements in performance and run time whilst improving the constellation operations efficiency.
- Be the driving force for optimization methodologies used in analysis and system operations.
- Devise new formulations in support of new features, constraints and objectives introduced to the System Model.
- Apply mathematical optimization techniques such as Linear Programming and Mixed Integer Programming to design near-optimal solvers to be used in system engineering and operations software.
- Perform objective trade-offs of algorithms and formulations.
- Participate in the re-structuring of the System Model toward overall improvements in performance and maintainability.
- Work collaboratively with wider engineering teams to support the development and integration of the System Model.
- Work with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders as required.
Key Skills & Experience for the LEO Operations Research Specialist:
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience for this role.
- Proficiency in using commercial solvers like Gurobi, Cplex or Fico Xpress, or non-commercial solvers like Coin-OR or SCIP.
- Strong background in optimization techniques to solve Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) problems.
- Experience with programming in languages such as Matlab, Python, Java, C or C++.
- Experience in applying Operations Research toward solving business problems.
- Experience with space systems is a bonus.
This opportunity offers a hybrid work model with 3 days in the office and regular travel to Canada is required.
