Sales Manager – Bespoke Design & Manufacturing in Defence & Security

Holt Executive are partnered with a leading design and manufacturing business. With a cutting-edge product range, they service a number of industries and assist in driving innovation.

They require a Sales Manager to manage all aspects of the chosen business sectors, Land or Maritime for example, and support campaigns and Special Projects as required.

Key Responsibilities for the Sales Manager – Bespoke Design & Manufacturing in Defence & Security:

  • Locate and deal directly with end users, prime contractor, and systems integrators to identify sales opportunities for products and systems
  • Provide input to the strategic plan to ensure profitable development
  • Provide input to Business Plans to build, monitor and control opportunities pipeline
  • Prepare budgets and sales forecasts
  • Successfully generate, negotiate, and close business opportunities
  • Brief senior management on the business sector opportunities as they arise
  • Maintain the sector enquiry management system in conjunction with the bids and proposals manager
  • Provide opportunity forecasts and prepare briefing papers to enable open bid no-bid discussion
  • Produce proposals and quotations to include the correct technical solution, cost build up, commercial terms and aim for a compliance response in line with business need
  • Be the customer voice within the organisation to align the organisation to customer expectations and further enhance the customer experience
  • Establish and maintain superior relationships with customers at all organizational levels
  • Monitor and report on changes in market conditions, and likely impact on resulting product plans

The Successful Sales Manager – Bespoke Design & Manufacturing in Defence & Security will:

  • Have market knowledge and presence within the Defence or Security sectors
  • Have a Customer and Marketing shared focus
  • Work well under pressure and build strong team / relationships to manage customer expectations
  • Have an ability to self-motivate and sustain the passion and desire to win whilst managing long sales cycles
  • Have an ability to understand customers and their needs to communicate information in a comprehensive manner
  • Strong customer relationship building skills and understanding of their challenges
  • Broad understanding of emerging technologies (software, hardware, network)
  • Experience in Bid & Tender processes
  • Experience in nurturing senior executive and political level relationships
  • Customer focused – the ability to manage and be responsible for high profile customers
  • Demonstrated skills in managing a multitude of complex projects and ability to prioritize accordingly
  • Strategic thinker, who recognizes business opportunities and their potential impact on the overall business
  • Due to the nature of the business, all staff need to be able to obtain UK Security Clearance as a mandated requirement
