Satellite Network Technologist – SATCOM
Holt Executive are currently partnered with a leading Global Satellite Operator who provide reliable and secure satellite-delivered voice and high-speed data communications solutions to broadcast, telecommunications, corporate and government customers worldwide.
They require a Satellite Network Technologist – SATCOM to join the network operations team in Montreal, and be responsible for tasks supporting the operations and maintenance of satellite teleport and network operations infrastructure, and to support customer networks and various customer Gateway sites/services.
Responsibilities for the Satellite Network Technologist – SATCOM:
- Maintain services, satellite gateways, site and system programming, daily checks, satcom services
- Support of landing stations and networks associated with a LEO Satellite network service
- Support the Teleport and Network Operations in performing corrective and preventative maintenance activities
- Provide level 2 support for hub and network systems
- Travel to support remote groups, for installations and corrective maintenance
- Work directly with customers and/or third party suppliers as required
Education & Experience required by the Satellite Network Technologist – SATCOM:
- Bilingual (French & English)
- Electronics/Telecommunications Technologist Diploma, or the equivalent
- Familiarity with RF systems, especially satellite-based RF systems
- Knowledge of IP based LAN/WAN networks and routing protocols (Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VLAN, QinQ)
- Familiarity with interconnection of network devices and complex network architecture
- Familiar with various types of telecommunications test equipment
- Knowledge of basic scripting tools and Network Management protocols (SNMP, SYSLOG)
