They require a Senior Mission Database Engineer to be responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of the Satellite Reference Database (SRDB) for future missions.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the database infrastructure that stores and manages critical mission data. You will closely collaborate with various stakeholders, such as satellite operations, ground segment, flight software and other engineering teams, to further evolve the SRDB to efficiently support several key aspects such as Satellite development, testing, planning, management and operations.

This role will help the team make a difference every day, by ensuring the team is well placed to drive missions forward, helping to make space safer and more sustainable for future generations.
 

Responsibilities for the Senior Mission Database Engineer:

• Database Architecture & Design: Lead the architecture and deployment of robust SRDB solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability for mission-critical satellite data.
• Support Software Engineers: Collaborate with and support software engineers in the development of SRDB solutions, providing expertise and guidance to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
• Data Integration & Management: Oversee the automated ingestion process and management of satellite telemetry, telecommand, and related mission data in the SRDB as well as generation of output data products.
• Mission Information Base Generation: Develop and manage processes for generating the Mission Information Base (MIB) from the SRDB that is compatible with the MCS (SCOS 2000).
• Leadership & Mentorship: Build and lead a database engineering team, providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring alignment with project goals.
• Automation & Innovation: Lead automation efforts to streamline the processing, ingestion, and analysis of satellite data, enhancing efficiency in database operations.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Systems, Ground Segment, Flight Software, AIV and Operations teams to ensure that the SRDB supports all required mission data and functionality through all phases of the mission.
• Verification & Validation: Implement processes to ensure data validity, tool validation, consistency and quality of SRDB content.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation for SRDB systems, data processes, and tools.

 
Experience required by the Senior Mission Database Engineer:

• Bachelor, master’s degree or PhD in computer science, aerospace engineering or relevant engineering / science discipline.
• 8+ years’ of spacecraft database engineering, or related field, previous experience within spacecraft operations/analysis would also be an advantage.
• Proven experience with large-scale database systems and managing satellite or telemetry-related data.
• Experience in generating mission-critical data outputs, such as a Mission Information Base.
• Experience with industry standards, processes, protocols for spacecraft communications, such as CCSDS & PUS.
• Solid understanding of satellite telemetry and telecommand packet structures (TM/TC) and its use of its systems controls e.g SCOS-2000.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Radio Frequency Systems Engineer to play a crucial role in the success of the constellation program.
 
Key Responsibilities for the Radio Frequency Systems Engineer:
 

• Working closely with other segments and teams on multiple key system aspects including end-to-end communication, network entry, service availability, and satellite payload power consumption management.
• Working with cross-functional teams to align the RF payload design with the overall network performance.
• Meeting and interfacing with the spacecraft and RF payload unit suppliers to ensure that the program requirements are met from a development, qualification and performance perspective.
• Ensure that the spacecraft and RF payload unit suppliers remain on schedule with regards to technical deliverables.
• Understand and resolve design, production or test issues with engineering teams and suppliers.
• Supporting with payload integration activities.
• Analyzing design review data and actively participate in various Preliminary, Critical and Test Readiness Reviews, and provide technical reports on program status.
• Participate in In-Orbit Testing of satellite performance and provide recommendations for satellite acceptance and commissioning.
• Preparing presentations and regular status reports.

 
Key Skills & Experience Required by the Radio Frequency Systems Engineer:
 

• A Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical/Aerospace (or equivalent).
• 12+ years of relevant space industry experience.
• A background in RF satellite payloads and/or RF payload unit engineering.
• Knowledge or familiarity with RF satellite/payload manufacturing and supply chain management.
• Experience with optical communications and/or digital communications and/or space electronics is an asset.
• Experience with onboard processing, space electronics, digital modulation, and network functions is an asset.
• Strong technical, presentation, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain Reliability Clearance.

This opportunity offers a hybrid work model with 4 days in the office per week and occasional travel is anticipated.

• The ability to appropriately tailor and adapt standard engineering practises to a lean and fast-paced engineering development environment.
• Working technical knowledge of various space- and ground- segment subsystems and specialist functions, particularly orbital mechanics and AOCS/GNC.
• 10+ years’ experience of systems engineering within the commercial space industry.
• 5+ years’ recent experience in a line management role.

• Project and Technical Development Reviews: Oversee the technical development and implementation of assigned programs in the relevant project reviews, and guide teams accordingly.
• Engineering Processes and Procedures: In collaboration with the Ground segment Group Manager, ensure quality of standards and procedures across engineering, defining, mapping and proposing processes and procedures.

Skills & Experience Required by the Ground Segment Architect:

• Masters engineering degree in an associated field.  
• At least 10-15+ years’ experience in their areas of expertise.
• Experienced people manager.
• Experienced in the development & design of ground segments and systems.
• Experience at spacecraft level in a systems architecture role.
• Experience working with businesses delivering long-term complex projects and programmes.

• A solid knowledge of technical English.
• An interest in the space sector.
• Knowledge and experience with a number of the ground segment applicable IT programming languages or technologies such as Python, Java, Micro-services architecture, Cloud technology.
• An experience in space mission ground systems is a real asset.
