The successful Senior System Engineering Specialist will work alongside cross-functional teams to define the system architecture, system requirements, and specifications for all network elements, including the satellites themselves.

As the Senior System Engineering Specialist your expertise will ensure everything aligns perfectly with project goals and meets the critical needs of their customers.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior System Engineering Specialist:

  • Design and develop critical aspects of the system, including communication, resource allocation, network entry, management systems, service availability, compliance, satellite power management, efficiency, spectrum management, user terminal integration, and operational concepts.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers on the System Design team.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive system architecture documentation, including subsystems, interfaces, and data flows, to guarantee optimal performance and reliability.
  • Work closely with the System Integration and Test team to plan the successful integration and testing of all system elements.
  • Identify and manage technical risks associated with the system design. Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans as needed.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in the satellite industry and contribute innovative ideas to enhance the design and operation of the system.
  • Create and maintain all necessary documentation.
  • Work together with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure the project’s success.

Key Skills and Experience for the Senior System Engineering Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 14+ years of proven experience in satellite system architecture and design.
  • Strong knowledge of satellite communication protocols, orbital mechanics, and space systems.
  • Experience with software defined satellite communication payloads.
  • Familiarity with regulatory bodies and space industry standards.
  • Specialised Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
  • Creative analytical person with thorough attention to detail.

They require a Systems Configuration Management Specialist to support the ground-breaking LEO Satellite program, with responsibility to support System Configuration Management and System Requirements Management. The incumbent will manage hardware and software development environments with respect to program technical data, manage configuration and verification documents, and ensure all technical and data requirements are identified and tracked to schedule.

This opportunity offers a hybrid work model with 3 days in the office and occasional travel is anticipated.

Responsibilities for the Systems Configuration Management Specialist:

System Configuration Management

  • Attention to detail with respect to managing hardware and software development environments, and program technical data
  • Manage configuration baselines: Single source of truth of the different elements feeding into the Verification Team to manage the technical baseline
  • Owner of all documentation defining configuration and verification status of the system
  • Control/document HW and SW configuration
  • Tasking in this role will include the use of CM tools for configuration identification, configuration control, configuration status accounting, configuration verification and audits, product release and delivery and provide solutions to a variety of CM technical challenges

System Requirements Management

  • Ensure that vendor deliverable documentation (Systems and IVV Contract Data Requirement List/Subcontract Data Requirement List (CDRL/SDRL)) are identified and tracked to schedule.
  • Ensure the internal Data requirements are identified and tracked to schedule, including release of all Technical Requirements Documents, Interface Requirement Documents, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Define/Update Process for requirements management in engineering tools.

 
Experience required by the Systems Configuration Management Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/science, or College Degree
  • 3- year’s experience in Engineering or related field
  • Experience working in an Engineering design environment, interfacing with Hardware, Systems, Software, and Test Engineers
  • Experience using Software configuration management processes and tools
  • 2+ years of related experience in Data Management or Configuration Management (Desirable)
