Our partner is seeking a highly experienced Field Telecom Technician II to join their growing team in Perth, Australia. This role requires extensive travel, including land, offshore and international locations. 

The Field Telecom Technician II will be responsible for overseeing equipment installation, maintenance, and updates for remote communications systems for the needs of their customers in the Energy, Mining, and Maritime industries.

Key Responsibilities for the Field Telecom Technician II:

  • Install, troubleshoot, and assemble fixed/stabilized GEO/LEO/MEO VSAT systems, L-band systems, LTE systems, and IT/network equipment.
  • Conduct testing and equipment assembly in the workshop as required.
  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot various equipment, including routers, switches, access points, phones, VSAT antennas, modems, and cabling.
  • Use of various testing equipment (spectrum analyzers, DVMs, cable testers, etc).
  • Perform day-to-day preventative maintenance and repair of VSAT hardware.
  • Collaborate with clients and service providers to resolve complex network-related issues.
  • Ability to train and mentor junior technicians on deployed hardware and technology and assist remotely when necessary.
  • Interpret engineering drawings for installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Partner with engineering and product development teams to review and test new VSAT technology.
  • Provide remote customer support.

Key Skills & Experience Required for the Field Telecom Technician II:

  • Associate degree in IT, Telecommunications, Communications, or 3+ years of relevant work experience. Commensurate military experience may be acceptable.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in the Onshore/Offshore remote communications industry is preferred.
    • Commensurate military qualification with satellite or radio communication equipment.
    • Qualified Electrical/ Instrumentation experience.
  • Preferred proven and demonstrable experience with satellite communications fundamentals, VSAT, antenna RF systems/sub-systems, cable installation and termination.
  • Proficient with iDirect, Newtec and Comtech Satellite Modems, L Band antennas, Stabilized antenna, Cisco routers, switches, and wireless Access Points.
  • Experience preferred with RF Spectrum Analyzers and RF theory.
  • Familiarisation with IP routing, switching, security and VOIP.
  • Onshore and offshore cable installation
  • Ability to offer creative solutions and resourceful critical thinking skills is necessary.
  • In addition to independent qualities, the ability to work well as part of regional/global and virtual teams across multiple geographies/vertical markets.
  • Knowledge of Electrical safety/Awareness of Electrical isolation
  • Knowledge of offshore safety procedures, which may include but are not limited to Permit to Work, Stop the Job, Lone Man Working, and Electrical Isolation.

Responsibilities for the Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer – Space Sustainability:
• Development of spacecraft mission and system design including requirements derivation and CONOPS definition.

• Performing feasibility studies into different scenarios and architectures.
• Assisting with bid work, providing technical solutions and documentation.

• Diploma; bachelor or master’s degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering or another relevant discipline.
• At least 10+ years of commercial experience in a Systems Engineering role for satellite platform architecture.
• Knowledge of the systems and project engineering lifecycle from requirements definition through to verification.
• Experience in mission and systems architecture definition, especially understanding of both space and ground segment interaction.
• Good knowledge of a range of subsystems & engineering teams including: GNC (AOCS, ADCS), astrodynamics, C&DH / OBDH, EPS, RCS (propulsion), COM (communications), software, ground segment & operations.
• Experience in the development of systems engineering documentation working with a Project Manager as needed: requirements, CONOPS, review gate materials, test and verification plans / procedures, DDVP, ICDs, equipment lists, FMECA & FTAs
• Awareness of the AIT process: manufacture, assembly, functional and environmental testing.
• Knowledge of commonly used engineering and modelling packages (e.g. ModelSim, Matlab, STK) and/or coding and scripting languages (e.g. Python)
