Security Operations Engineer
Holt Executive are currently partnered with a global leader in Space Sustainability, a dynamic and rapidly growing technology and engineering innovator who are making hugely positive contributions to tackle the growing problem of space debris, making space and our orbits safer for future generations.
They require a Security Operations Engineer to join the Global IT and Security Team and drive security improvement across the business, which covers Microsoft 365, on-premises systems and AWS cloud services. The role will cover monitoring and analysis of security posture, ensuring that best practices are applied and that the best possible secure configurations are in place.
This isn’t a position for someone to write reports on identified weaknesses, it’s for someone to roll up their sleeves and fix them, alongside a global team of IT professionals.
Responsibilities for the Security Operations Engineer:
- Analyse, continually enhance and report on the security of the company’s Microsoft tenant. This will include ensuring all security controls required are effectively implemented including conditional access, identity management and privileged access management.
- Lead the configuration of Microsoft Purview for data loss prevention.
- Actively manage software vulnerabilities. Through the use of Intune, and working with the global IT team, create and manage installations to ensure that software across the estate is patched. Actively seek out dangerous software and remove it.
- Analyse cloud services ensuring that best practice is applied to secure configurations.
- Work to enhance and improve detection capabilities, ensuring that sufficient sensors are in place to identify anomalous activity across endpoints, cloud infrastructure and on-premises equipment.
- Regularly audit information systems through conducting regular or automated penetration testing, vulnerability scanning and other security testing activities.
- Hunt for threats in the Microsoft environment and build custom detections specific to our use cases.
- Work with other members of the security team to build assurance in specific use cases, including spacecraft operations.
Experience required by the Security Operations Engineer:
- Solid Microsoft 365 security experience in configuration (as well as analysis).
- Intune experience in a corporate production environment.
- Experience working in hybrid global environments with VPNs and complex network topologies.
- Experience with DLP technologies (ideally Microsoft Purview).
- Degree educated with a Computer Science/Information Security degree or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable experience working in a blue-team type environment or role.
- AWS and cloud security understanding and experience.
- Penetration testing knowledge and experience, from vulnerability scanning through to more advanced security analysis.
- Experience and knowledge of ISO27001 or similar standards (desirable).
- Programming and scripting in PowerShell, Python and other languages (desirable).

Risk & Governance Manager

They require a Risk & Governance Manager to join the Global IT and Security Team and help shape the policy and compliance landscape by updating existing policy, creating new policy and implementing the change necessary to gain (and subsequently maintain) ISO27001 (and other similar certifications).
The role will be critical in enhancing Risk Management and the successful applicant will be responsible for the maintenance, communication, ongoing review and improvement of Risk Registers and associated polices and processes.
Responsibilities for the Risk & Governance Manager:
- Implement and subsequently maintain a full ISO27001 ISMS.
- Own all security policy and ensure that it is complete, coherent and well communicated and understood across the business.
- Own and enhance the risk management policy and risk register, enhancing the risk management process and communication and understanding of risk.
- Work with colleagues in other geographies to understand their regulatory requirements and seek to rationalise, harmonise and reduce global compliance efforts.
- Interface with the local business to ensure compatibility with local policies, ISO 9001 and other UK-focussed initiatives.
Experience required by the Risk & Governance Manager:
- Experience implementing or auditing ISO27001 (2022).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in simple terms. Must be an engaging speaker with the ability to capture the attention of a wide variety of stakeholders and staff across the business.
- Excellent written communication skills with extensive experience creating and maintaining policy and other documentation.
- Experience in risk management, and the ongoing risk management process.
- Experience in vulnerability management (desirable).
- Experience with DLP technologies, ideally Microsoft Purview (desirable).
- Experience in managing security incidents (desirable).

Requirements Manager / Solution Architect

They require a Requirements Manager / Solution Architect with Space Engineering Domain knowledge to join the Software team, and be responsible for supporting the development and verification of the Satellite Reference Database (SRDB) for future missions.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with extensive experience in Space Software looking to take the next step in their career. From a technical perspective, this role will focus on agreeing the requirements for the SRDB with stakeholders and defining the architecture of the SRDB application, ensuring the requirements are being met.
This role will help the team make a difference every day, by ensuring the software team is well placed to drive missions forward and help to make space safer and more sustainable for future generations.
Responsibilities for the Requirements Manager / Solution Architect:
- Provide support and guidance to software technical development of the complete flight software for future missions.
- Fully understand the software development processes, and where necessary lead the creation of new processes.
- Awareness of industry standards and processes associated with flight software development.
- Mentor, provide guidance to and review work from other flight software engineers.
Essential Experience required by the Requirements Manager / Solution Architect:
- Bachelor, master’s degree or PhD in computer science, software engineering or relevant engineering / science discipline.
- 10+ years of commercial experience in software development preferably in the space or aerospace domains.
- Able to conceive/invent new software applications from a ‘blank sheet’.
- Experience in mentoring, reviewing and guiding other engineers.
- Experience of all stages of design lifecycle from initial concept to design, test, and operations.
- Experience of implementing software solutions on spacecraft missions.
- Experience of data analysis and database design.
- Knowledge of commonly used protocols and standards for spacecraft communications, such as CCSDS, CAN and Spacewire.

Senior Computer Vision Engineer

They are seeking a Senior Computer Vision Engineer to join their team of Computer Vision specialists in addressing mission-critical challenges that depend on a highly advanced Computer Vision subsystem. This technology is essential for enabling spacecraft to execute complex tasks like rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking with uncontrolled, often unpredictable objects.
As part of the global team, the successful Senior Computer Vision Engineer will oversee all aspects of the Computer Vision subsystem, including algorithms, simulations, and hardware. Your responsibilities will include designing and prototyping Computer Vision algorithms for their missions and supporting validation and testing efforts.
Key Responsibilities for the Senior Computer Vision Engineer:
- Design and develop novel computer vision algorithms for space object detection and tracking, and 6 Degrees of Freedom pose estimation for space applications.
- Support CV hardware procurement for missions.
- Contribute to CV verification & validation planning and execution.
- Support the CV subsystem test activities including hardware-in-the-loop.
- Support the integration and testing of CV software implementation.
- Support the CV hardware procurement activities working collaboratively with vendors and supplier chain management engineers.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (Systems, Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC), Flight Dynamics, etc.) in the planning, design and development of missions/systems to ensure software and hardware performance and compatibility.
Key Skills and Experience for the Senior Computer Vision Engineer:
Essential –
- Degree level knowledge of an engineering, scientific or mathematical discipline, or equivalent science based/engineering experience.
- Experience in mixing image data from different sources; real and synthetic.
- Firsthand experience designing and developing CV Solutions
- Experience with some, or all, of –
- Industrial Experience with Computer Vision Applications
- Detection, Tracking and Classification methods.
- Programming languages such as Python, C/C++
- Version Control systems (Git)
Desirable –
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or relevant field
- Experience in space applications.
- Experience with Lidar-based CV application.
- Experience with ML and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
