Our partner is seeking a Lead Space Systems Engineer to lead a team of engineers and spearhead the design, construction, and delivery of small satellites for their global clientele. You will be the customer’s go-to technical expert, collaborating closely with specialists across disciplines from defining spacecraft requirements to post-launch commissioning. This role demands a broad technical understanding encompassing hardware, software, integration, power management, mechanical design, and manufacturing.
The position is located in Aalborg (Denmark) or Luxembourg, with travel requirements of approximately 15-20 days per year.
Key Responsibilities for the Lead Space Systems Engineer:
- Lead the project’s systems team, overseeing the design and architecture of the spacecraft and its systems.
- Develop and maintain documentation following established space engineering standards.
- Contribute technically across all phases of mission and spacecraft design, from initial requirements to final integration and verification.
- Manage interfaces with internal and external stakeholders, including payloads, ground control, launchers, etc.
- Collaborate extensively with colleagues across various departments and locations, including Denmark, Luxembourg, Sweden, France, and North America.
- Balance high-level design work with hands-on development and implementation tasks.
Key Skills and Experience Required by the Lead Space Systems Engineer:
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree (or higher) in engineering or relevant technical field, or equivalent professional experience in high-tech.
- Proven experience in space systems engineering, spacecraft, and mission design.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of space systems, including satellites, spacecraft, launch vehicles, and related technologies.
- Proficiency in systems engineering principles and methodologies (requirements analysis, system architecture, integration, verification, and validation).
- Experience with CAD tools (SOLIDWORKS or similar) and mission analysis tools (STK, GMAT or similar).
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, Matlab) may be beneficial depending on the specific role.
