Holt Executive are partnered with a Space based Laser Communications leader that is transforming the way we communicate here on Earth.
Our partner is seeking an experienced Optical Engineer on a full-time capacity to support the development of their space and ground-based laser communication solutions.
Key Responsibilities for the Optical Engineer:
- Supporting the design, manufacturing, testing and validation of ground-based and space optical systems.
- Supporting the design, manufacturing, and testing of OGSE (Optical Ground Support Equipment).
- AIT (Assembly, Integration, Test), of terminals.
- Supporting with mechanical and thermal modelling and simulations.
- Development of review documentation.
- Working cross-functionally with the wider team.
Key Skills & Experience for the Optical Engineer:
- Master’s degree in Optical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- High level of attention to detail and proven experience of executing tasks to a high standard.
- Strong experience in STOP analysis, sequential and non-sequential modes of ZEMAX OpticStudio.
- Experience in the building and operation of optical benches with visible and NIR lasers, including the implementation of laser safety, use of wavefront sensors and other optical instruments.
- Knowledge and experience with lasers, APD, PIN and FPA detectors.
- Experience in the creation and development of technical documentation.
The successful candidate must be a European or NATO citizen.
This opportunity is an onsite position in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg with relocation support provided.
