They are seeking a Senior RF Design & Test Engineer to play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of their innovative connectivity constellation.

The Senior RF Design & Test Engineer will be responsible for crafting and maintaining comprehensive plans to verify and validate the system, working closely with vendors and partners throughout the testing process. Additionally, you will be the go-to person for maintaining the testing lab environment.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior RF Design & Test Engineer:

  • Make recommendations and influence the system verification and validation of the system.
  • Develop the system and sub system verification matrix vs system requirements.
  • Arrange, coordinate, and participate in RF and system level testing activities including test planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Be the RF expert and support other technical staff as required.
  • Have an active role in component and subsystem design and test activities.
  • Configuring test equipment, including Satellite Link Emulators, signal generator, spectrum analyser etc.
  • Ensure that the products undergoing tests meet technical, functional, performance and business requirements.
  • Ensure the lab remains functional and update to date with known hardware and software configuration to execute various test scenarios as necessary.
  • Work with various Antenna Vendors.
  • Work with partners and other vendors in various test campaigns.

Key Skills & Experience Required by the Senior RF Design & Test Engineer:

  • B. S or M.S.in Electrical, Computer or System Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of relevant satellite communications experience.
  • 14+ years of experience in Satellite RF communication systems with strong exposure on modulation and coding used in modern standards.
  • 14+ years of work experience in RF testing in Ka bands.
  • Hands on experience using RF test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analysers, satellite channel emulator).
  • Strong understanding of RF engineering Principles and Design Practices.
  • Integration of various Antenna types.
  • Demonstrated understanding of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation and coding and its impact on the satellite link performance.
  • Experience with satellite link budget analyses with good understanding of effects of impairments on the link performance.
  • Experience in test case and defect tracking tools (Jira, Jama).

The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP)

Responsibilities for the Systems Configuration Management Specialist:

System Configuration Management

  • Attention to detail with respect to managing hardware and software development environments, and program technical data

  • Owner of all documentation defining configuration and verification status of the system
  • Control/document HW and SW configuration

System Requirements Management

  • Ensure the internal Data requirements are identified and tracked to schedule, including release of all Technical Requirements Documents, Interface Requirement Documents, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Define/Update Process for requirements management in engineering tools.

 
Experience required by the Systems Configuration Management Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/science, or College Degree
  • 3- year’s experience in Engineering or related field
  • Experience working in an Engineering design environment, interfacing with Hardware, Systems, Software, and Test Engineers
  • Experience using Software configuration management processes and tools
  • 2+ years of related experience in Data Management or Configuration Management (Desirable)
  • Bilingual in English and French an asset (but not required)
