Electronics Group Leader

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Electronics Group Leader to oversee and guide a team of talented electronics engineers. This pivotal role involves leading the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge electronic systems for defence applications, while ensuring the highest standards of engineering excellence and compliance. As a leader, you will help drive both the tactical and strategic growth of the team, ensuring it evolves to meet the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of electronics engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members, assisting with complex problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of electronic systems and components for defence applications, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration of electronic systems.
  • Review, maintain, and improve working practices related to electrical and electronics design and development, ensuring up-to-date internal documentation.
  • Support the sales team by providing technical input for new bids, opportunities, and queries regarding electrical systems.

  Skills & Experience:
Essential:

  • A degree in electronics or electrical engineering (2:1 or above), or a closely related discipline.
  • Several years of hands-on experience in electrical or electronics design, particularly in PCB development for high-performance microcontrollers, communications interfaces, and associated power supply and cabling architectures.
  • Experience in line management and leadership within a prototype engineering environment, preferably within the defence industry.
  • Technical project management experience, following the design lifecycle.
  • Experience with motion control systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in electronics/electrical engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 5+ years of proven technical team leadership experience.
  • Experience with electrical and electronics systems in the defence environment.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and its interaction with electronics and systems requirements.

  Work-Life Balance:

  • 37.5 hour working week.

Product Manager (Maritime Safety Services and MSS) – Role Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

Product Ownership & Strategy:

  • Define, maintain, and execute the product roadmap and business strategy for Safety and MSS services, ensuring alignment with management and product teams.
  • Ensure product strategy complies with regulations (e.g., GMDSS) and customer safety needs.
  • Lead the full product lifecycle—from ideation to end-of-life—including migration planning.
  • Translate customer needs and market trends into actionable product requirements and user stories.
  • Develop strong relationships with Satellite Network Operators and key manufacturers to secure favourable terms.
  • Organize commercial initiatives (campaigns, promotions) within budget and guidelines to promote key services.
  • Keep product documentation, sales materials, training, and process flows up-to-date on all portals; manage the hardware catalogue for the MSS portfolio.

Customer Insights & Product Performance Reporting:

  • Gather customer feedback regularly to identify needs and pain points.
  • Track product performance through clear metrics and reports, updating stakeholders on results.
  • Monitor KPIs like service usage and customer satisfaction and launch initiatives to support growth or improve quality.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with teams like engineering, billing, legal, procurement, delivery and IT on required product or terminal changes, required developments, resolve potential blockers.
  • Align with sales, marketing, and operations for smooth go-to-market and customer adoption.
  • Work with transversal teams and other business units on unified approaches.

Market & Partner Engagement:

  • Monitor the competitive landscape and new technologies—such as LEO/NGSO impacts on MSS—to find opportunities to differentiate Marlink’s portfolio.
  • Maintain strong relationships with satellite operators and hardware vendors to ensure service continuity and foster innovation.
  • Help create and update a comprehensive benchmarking database.

Operational Excellence:

  • Drive continuous improvement in service delivery, including hardware lifecycle (e.g., antenna stock optimization), and pricing strategies. Manage required MSS changes in our portals) and other BSS tools, often linked to various SNO APIs.

Product Manager (Maritime Safety Services and MSS) – Key experience required:

  • Education: University master or similar degrees, preferably in Business, Engineering or International Management.
  • Work experience: minimum 5 year relevant work experience.
  • Product Management Experience: Demonstrated success in launching new services using agile methodologies and managing products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Technical and industry Expertise: In-depth knowledge of MSS technologies and relevant regulatory frameworks for Maritime (e.g., GMDSS, IMO).
  • Industry Platforms: Experience working with Viasat/Inmarsat, Iridium, and Thuraya platforms is a strong asset.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to manage stakeholders effectively and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Balanced Skill Set: Blend of commercial, operational, and technical experience.

  • Reformat and restructure BOMs and part data for direct ERP import compatibility.
