Satellite Systems Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity for a Satellite Systems Specialist to play a crucial role in the success of the constellation program.
Key Responsibilities for the Satellite Systems Specialist:
- Working closely with other segments and teams on multiple key system aspects including end-to-end communication, network entry, service availability, and satellite payload power consumption management.
- Working with cross-functional teams to align the payload design with the overall network performance.
- Meeting and interfacing with the spacecraft and/or payload unit suppliers/vendors to ensure that the program requirements are met in terms of development, qualification and performance of the hardware.
- Ensure that the spacecraft and payload unit suppliers/vendors are on schedule and that technical deliverables are being met.
- Understand and resolve design, production or test issues via co-engineering with the suppliers engineering team.
- Supporting with payload integration activities.
- Evaluating the technical analysis presented by the spacecraft vendor.
- Analyzing design review data and actively participate in various Preliminary, Critical and Test Readiness Reviews, and provide technical reports on program status.
- Participate in In-Orbit Testing of satellite performance and provide recommendations for satellite acceptance and commissioning.
- Preparing presentations and regular status reports.
Key Skills & Experience Required by the Satellite Systems Specialist:
- A Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical/Aerospace (or equivalent).
- 12+ years of relevant space industry experience.
- A background in satellite payload and/or payload unit engineering.
- Knowledge or familiarity with satellite/payload manufacturing and supply chain management.
- Experience with collaborative software such as Jira, Confluence & Jama.
- Experience with optical communications and/or digital communications and/or space electronics an asset.
- Technical expertise supported by strong organizational and planning skills.
- Strong technical, presentation, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

Hardware Reliability Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Hardware Reliability Engineer to ensure reliability and performance of their satellite user terminals and landing station hardware.
Key Responsibilities for the Hardware Reliability Engineer:
- Reliability testing and analysis of satellite user terminal and landing station hardware components and systems.
- Requirements definition for Mean Time Before Failure at component level.
- Develop and execute reliability test plans, including environmental stress testing, accelerated life testing, and failure mode analysis (FMA).
- Work with design engineers to identify potential reliability issues and implement design improvements based on test results.
- Statistical analysis of test data to evaluate product reliability, predict failures, and recommend enhancements.
- Produce detailed test reports and present findings to stakeholders, providing recommendations for product enhancements.
- Participate actively in design reviews to ensure reliability requirements are met and Design For Excellence (DfX).
- Testing and evaluation of supplier components and materials for reliability compliance and performance suitability and provide requirements for field replacement and repair strategies.
- Definition and implementation of reliability metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Skills & Experience Required by the Hardware Reliability Engineer:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in hardware reliability engineering, ideally in the satellite communication or aerospace industries.
- Experience in reliability testing methodologies such as HALT, HASS, FMEA, and environmental testing.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 or DO-160 is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in statistical analysis tools.
- Familiarity with reliability prediction software (e.g., ReliaSoft, Relex, Windchill) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of satellite user terminal hardware architecture and components.
